Uttar Pradesh Cops Nab 19 in Inter-State Cyber Fraud Ring

Cyber Threat Intelligence is reporting a significant bust in Uttar Pradesh, where local police have dismantled an inter-state cyber fraud network operating out of Kanpur. Nineteen individuals were apprehended during a coordinated operation by the cyber crime branch and Special Operations Group (SOG). According to officials, this well-organized gang targeted unsuspecting victims by posing as facilitators for government welfare schemes. They allegedly used a combination of forged documents and mule bank accounts to siphon funds, ensnaring hundreds of people.

Authorities recovered a trove of evidence during the raid, including multiple mobile phones, fake documents, and details pertaining to government schemes, all instrumental in their fraudulent activities. Cyber Threat Intelligence notes that police suspect this network has broader inter-state connections and could be responsible for large-scale financial losses. The operation led to a tense situation in the village where the arrests occurred, requiring additional forces to manage the crowd.

The 19 arrested suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, with police anticipating further arrests as the investigation unfolds. This crackdown is being hailed as a major victory against organized cybercrime syndicates in the region, highlighting the persistent threat of social engineering and financial fraud schemes.
