MLA Falls for 'Viksit Bharat' Loan Scam, Loses Rs 1 Lakh

A Telangana MLA, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, recently became the victim of a sophisticated cyber fraud, losing Rs 1 lakh. According to Cyber Threat Intelligence, the scam revolved around the ‘Viksit Bharat’ scheme, where fraudsters promised a Rs 10 lakh loan. The perpetrators lured participants by claiming they needed to provide a list of beneficiaries and requested a processing fee. MLA Reddy transferred Rs 1 lakh via UPI as part of this alleged scheme. The deception came to light when he attempted to withdraw the promised loan amount and realized it was a fraudulent operation. He has since filed a complaint with the Jubilee Hills Police, who have registered a case under Section 66A of the IT Act and are currently verifying the details shared with the scammers.
