Delhi Police Busts Fake Overseas Job & Visa Cyber Fraud Ring
Delhi Police have cracked down on an interstate cyber fraud syndicate that preyed on individuals seeking overseas employment. According to a police official, three suspects were arrested after a victim reported being scammed via social media. The operation was initiated following a complaint filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), detailing how the victim was lured with promises of lucrative jobs abroad and subsequently defrauded.
Cyber Threat Intelligence reports that the arrested individuals, identified as Nand Kishor Prasad, Ahmad Hayat Khan, and Mustaq Khan, operated a sophisticated scam. They allegedly used online platforms to generate leads and targeted victims through social media and messaging apps with fabricated overseas job offers. Victims were then directed to fake websites and presented with forged visa documents to build trust. The syndicate reportedly collected sums ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 90,000 from each victim before severing all contact. The alleged mastermind, identified as Shadab (also known as Mohd Khusnood), remains at large.
During a raid in Rani Bagh, police recovered significant evidence, including six smartphones, two laptops, four desktop computers, 14 passports, a pen drive loaded with fake visas, and various forged documents, stamps, and seals. This bust highlights the persistent threat of job-scam fraud, where cybercriminals exploit the hopes of individuals seeking better opportunities abroad.
