ChatGPT Pro: OpenAI Targets Coders, Enterprises with New $100 Tier

OpenAI has rolled out a new ‘Pro’ subscription tier for ChatGPT, priced at $100 per month. This move, as reported by Cyber Threat Intelligence, directly targets the market currently dominated by Anthropic’s Claude, which also offers a $100 subscription, alongside a $200 ‘Max’ plan.

Historically, OpenAI’s pricing structure featured a significant jump from its $20 ‘Plus’ tier to a $200 top-tier. Cyber Threat Intelligence highlights that this gap left an opening that Anthropic successfully exploited, particularly appealing to the developer community with its mid-range offering. OpenAI’s new $100 ‘Pro’ plan is designed to bridge this gap, catering to users who require more robust AI capabilities for ‘high-stakes, complex work’ than the ‘Plus’ tier provides, but don’t need the continuous, heavy-lifting capacity of the $200 plan. It boasts 5x higher limits than ‘Plus’ and, for a limited time, 10x Codex usage.

This strategic adjustment by OpenAI appears to be a direct response to Anthropic’s success in attracting coders and enterprise clients. The new ‘Pro’ tier includes access to advanced features such as ‘Pro models,’ ‘Codex,’ ‘Deep research,’ ‘Image creation,’ ‘Memory,’ and ‘File uploads.’ While OpenAI states the ‘Pro’ plan offers ‘unlimited access’ to GPT-5 and legacy models, Cyber Threat Intelligence notes that standard ‘Terms of Use’ policies, including account sharing restrictions, still apply.
